NaturalReader is an application that transforms a written text into spoken words. This can be useful for people with visual impairments and for people who need to know the content of a text while driving or performing other tasks that prevent them from reading.
The program is really easy to use. You only need to upload a document, for example, a MS Word or plain text file, click on its name in the list, and wait a couple of seconds until the Read screen appears. Then, you need to click on the Play button to start hearing the content. You can adjust the reading speed and choose among several voices.
The program can read from other formats besides Word and text, such as PDFand ePub. Interestingly, it can also extract a text from images using its OCR function. Also, if you want the program to read the content of a webpage, you only need to copy the URL and paste it into the corresponding box. When you click on the Go button, the program will open the webpage, and then, you can click on Listen Now. The program will start reading the text on the page.
The free version of the program has limited functions. For example, you cannot save the read text into an audio format or sync it with mobile apps. There are other cost-based versions of the program with these and other features, such as more voices and different languages. You can try this freeware before deciding to purchase any of the more advanced versions.
